Priya V’s second venture with a bunch of promising star cast couldn’t evoke adequate appeal. Although a romantic love story with a fanfare of slapstick and sentiments, one couldn’t fail to notice the traces of the Hollywood flick ‘Meet the Parents’.
MACHAKARAN NO: 4
Cast: Jeevan, Kamna Jethmalani, Malavika, M.S. BaskarDirection: TamilvaananMusic: Yuvan Shankar RajaProduction: Madras Entertainments
Jeevan’s character with negative hues, this time a victim of unfavorable circumstances, hasn’t gone down well with the audiences. May be next time he wants to ponder over the fact that there’s a limit to weave stories out of a same plot.Trade Talk:While it’s still early to predict the outcome of Machakaran’s box office results, it is quite easy to say that the movie will be an average grosser.Public Talk:Hardly any.
ATM NO: 3
Cast: Vijay, Shriya, NamithaDirection: BarathanMusic: A R RahmanProduction: Swagachitra Appachan
Sometimes, predictions fail and expectations fall flat on their nose. With a trite fare of songs, stunts and sentiments, ATM provides satiated fodder for Vijay fans. But then, somehow the director missed to see the point that there are other aspects that needs to be concentrated too.Trade Talk:Since Vijay’s movies warrant a minimum guarantee, less harm is expected in the investment.Public Talk:Vijay fans seem to have mixed reactions. The story treatment has not gone down well with movie goers
POLLADHAVAN NO: 2
Cast: Dhanush, DivyaDirection: VettrimaranMusic: G V Prakash KumarProduction: Kathiresan
DHANUSH stylish non-linear narration of debutant director Vetrimaran. Divya Spandana is sure to have her due this time around – what she missed in her earlier attempt with Kuthu.Trade Talk:Polladhavan is turning out to be nothing short of a hit.Public Talk:Although only for adults with an ‘A’ certificate, this unpretentious fare seems to be picking up with good word-of-mouth. Youth seems to have taken a special liking.
Cast: Surya, Asin, Vadivelu, LakshmiDirection: HariMusic: Yuvan Shankar RajaProduction: M Chintamani
With his trademark recipe of family sentiments, love and action in equivalent measures, Hari has managed to scale the top position with his Vel. Call it the success of Asin – Surya combo yet again or the safe treatment of a reliable script, Vel is the winner this Deepavali. Trade Talk:Vel is running near houseful shows and is proving to be a profitable venture for the distributors in all centers.Public Talk:Although a typecast Hari movie, Surya seems to have done the magic
